MISSION STATEMENT
Founded in 2018, the Legends Awards was started by Melitta Molete to recognize and celebrate individuals who have made a lasting impact across corporate, political, traditional, civil, and community & sectors.
”The Legends Awards" is a prestigious recognition program that honors individuals who have contributed meaningfu ly to the development and betterment of their communities and industries. The initiative celebrates these changemakers, promotes their work, and inspires others to walk a similar path of service and excellence.
In recent years, the Legends Awards has hosted some of the largest recognition events in the country. On 04 November 2023, one of the most significant ceremonies took place in the south of Johannesburg. The folowing year, on 12 October 2024, the second major event was held at the ZK Matthews Great Hal (UNISA), Tshwane.
One of the 2024 award recipients, Dr. Mokgope, expressed: "I am honored to receive the 2024 Legend Award, becoming the first recipient from the North West Province. After 32 years of service, this recognition is a humbling testament to dedication, perseverance, and impact." Her words reflect the program’s commitment to regional inclusivity and its celebration of long-standing contribution.
The Legends Awards continues to leave a meaningful imprint on society—uplifting the stories of pioneers whose work spans from academia to grassroots community development.
